Stress Management Exercises

One on my favorite stress management exercises is to ask my counseling and anger management clients to imagine themselves getting up from a really good nights sleep, and to note how refreshed they feel as they pull the covers off, and move their body toward the next right thing to do.

Find your favourite comic (Calvin & Hobbes, or Snoopy or Beano) and laugh. Enjoy yourself. Whenever life got challenging when I was living in the monastery I always got out Calvin & Hobbes. This was my major stress reliever!

Slowing down and engaging in rhythmic large-scale activities that require complete focus on the movement take you out of your mind and direct you to focus on your physical self. And the stress eases or disappears.

Take your vitamins. Most bosses, since they are already swamped with the things they need to do tend to neglect their health. So, one way you can compensate with this is by taking your vitamins every morning. Taking these extra nutrients can help you feel less stressed as it helps your body function well even during the busiest of days.

You can also exercise by using the stairs at home, go up and down a few times. You can do sit-ups or stretching while watching TV. Or try parking your car away from the building so it gives you a few meters to walk early in the morning.

Cycling and Rowing are lower-impact alternatives to running, and both can be performed either outdoors or on a stationary machine in a gym. If you are a beginner to cardio workouts, a brisk walk may be all that is required to increase your heart rate and receive the stress relief benefits.

For the desired results of the training program, you should exercise 20-30 minutes for 3-4 days every week. Since cardio respiratory endurance decreases after 48 hrs, you must ensure that you exercise at least three days in a week. You can schedule your exercise in your daily routine in a manner comfortable to you.

Stress, depression and anxiety is the hard way to live. You feel so heavy and everything you do seems to take so much energy - energy that you just don't seem to have anymore. Everything becomes a chore, you lose you zest for life and feel so tired all the time, sound familiar?

Just like essential oils, slow and relaxing music can help reduce the stress you have. Choose some soothing songs can close your eyes while you enjoy and relax. Hypnotic audios are also a great way to induce yourself in a relaxation trance.

Dance to your own music. Put on some music with a peppy beat and dance around your living room. Or put on something classical and let your inner ballerina come out. If those aren't for you, turn to a rocker beat and have fun banging your head like you did when you were a teenager.

This technique was innovated during the early 20th century and is focused on creating awareness of body sensations through passive concentration. The idea behind this technique is to focus on various sensations on various regions of the body, like heaviness or warmth. This has been utsed by physicians for treating various conditions.
