Easy Ways to Beat Depression

By AlnwickKajetan at 2010-09-28 01:53:25
It's perfectly natural for everyone to have periods when we feel unhappy, for many highs and lows are simply unavoidable and at least they might help you to realize what's good in your life. However, depression is something quite different. One sign of depression is that your 'blue periods' go on for more than a few hours per day. The other is if you have two or more of the following conditions on a consistent or regular basis of: Low Self-Esteem, Fatigue, Sleep Problems, Appetite Changes, Weight Swings, Feelings of Guilt, Worthlessness, Suicide or a general loss of interest in your normal activities.

Beating depression or loneliness does not start with having more friends, or a relationship, although it can help. It really starts from within and is a process that takes time and care. Asking the right questions and doing the right things as part of this process is one of the keys to healing. Humans go through life in patterns by doing the same thing over and over again. Even in different situations, these patterns will be repeated and simply generate the same results. A pattern is a repeated response to a situation in life or a series of activities that are repeated over and over again.

Vitamin B definitely plays a major role in emotional health. And now, more than ever, supplementation is a good idea. However, please be sure to avoid "synthetic" vitamin supplements at all costs. These are the vitamins you'll find in your corner grocery or drug store. They are completely useless, if not downright harmful.

Many forms of depression do not need anti depressant drugs for successful treatment. You should always check with your doctor, but if you are taking anti depressant drugs for depression and would like to eventually stop, or if you are having some depression but dont want to take drugs for it, you can often defeat depression on your own.

Another way of banishing fear, apprehensions and despair is by writing everything down in a journal or a blog. If you decide to write a personal blog, however, it would be advisable to keep details, names and other important information to yourself. Anything on the web can be scrutinized by the public, so you don't want to give out too many details, especially if you are whining about your boss or job.

If you are absolutely committed to changing, I mean totally committed, you can change so quickly. You can change in a day. I promise you, it's true, I've seen it happen, I've experienced it myself. It wasn't cheap and it wasn't all that easy, but if you pay cheap you pay twice, if it's as easy to do, it's easy to forget. If you want to change and you are absolutely committed to doing it, you can do it, you can change in a day.

Keeping it simple can really help you see how great your life is. If you think about it, the materialistic things are not that important and you can really be happy as long as you have the most important things. You can easily find a less demanding job or position and spend more time with your friends and family. Enjoying the small things in life is also more than beneficial.

Many people, more commonly teenagers and young adults are known to deal with depression by consuming alcohol or drugs. These substances are unhealthy and can have mental effects that can exponentially increase the effects of their condition. Unfortunately, depression not only makes the sufferer feel down and unhappy, it can also affect other areas of their life. Younger people tend drop their performance in school, others at work, and it can also have an impact on their relationships.

Finally, note of caution. Some researches argue that we should be careful with the data though. Men are more likely not to seek help for depression due to the perceived stigma that society often attaches (e.g. being weak, unable to come etc). So the data may be somewhat skewed.
