How to Avoid Genital Herpes in Female

By AlnwickKajetan at 2010-10-29 01:52:07
Genital herpes is definitely one of those diseases that can cause a lot of distress to its victims. In women, the symptoms for the genital herpes have a wide range of various types of outbreaks as well as conditions. Most unfortunately, there are a lot of individuals, both men and women, who have contracted this particular disease do not develop symptoms at all, that is why there are still many who have not yet realized that there health is in great danger from the disease.

Genital herpes is usually spread by sexual contact, by having vaginal, anal, or oral sex with a person who has the herpes simplex virus. It can produce painful blisters around the genitals, buttocks, thighs and anus. One of the major goals when living with genital herpes is to lead a healthy sexual life and prevent spread the virus to another.

This lady was not an isolated case or an exception, rather just the opposite. In fact there are thousands and thousands of women who are actually not aware of carrying the female genital herpes even after they have contracted the virus - the Herpes Simplex Virus 2 (HSV-2).

Women with herpes suffer some of the same symptoms as as men. An herpes outbreak starts with an itching or tingling feeling in the genital area. This is followed by redness of the skin and then the forming of blisters. These blisters are sore when touched and last longer in women than in men.

Avoid touching or bursting the blisters as the virus can be spread by skin to skin contact, so if you touch the blisters and then touch someone else's genital area, or other parts of the body, you can pass it on. Wear loose fitting cotton underwear and clothing. This will help to keep the area clean and dry, to create an environment that will promote healing.

Abstinence. This is by far the most effective step is staying herpes-free but sad to say, this is also the least likely to be chosen as a protection. If your partner is already infected, don't ever indulge in sex during a visible outbreak! Even asymptomatic (no symptom) periods don't offer any security at all.

Blisters or tiny red bumps can eventually occur and might look like small fissures or fluid field lesions. During its outbreak, these blisters will become ulcers and when the blister skin breaks, out comes a milky fluid liquid. When the sores turn into scabs, this is the start of the healing process but the infection might still be present and retreat to the nerves. You have to wait until a new skin is formed.

Frangers, Dingers, Socks, Wraps, Stretchy Snakeskin or whatever euphemism you use to describe a condom, find ones that you like and use them every single time you have sex. No, they are not foolproof, but they do greatly reduce the chances of contracting a sexually transmitted disease like genital herpes.

Keeping a diary of when outbreaks occur and how certain products or treatment methods affect the outbreak can help you overcome future problems. Note when and how long the outbreaks occur and what triggers them if you can recognize the trigger. A diary might help you see patterns with your outbreaks and learn how to better cope with them.

These are just three ways that you can stop an outbreak or reduce the severity of it. There are many other ways to treat the herpes virus so why not find out more.
