Gallbladder Symptoms

By AlnwickKajetan at 2010-11-10 03:15:33
Gallbladder symptoms work in this way as well. You may start with some pesky constipation, then perhaps you notice that you're bloated and bilious after most meals, after that you start to feel pain under the right side of your rib cage, and the next thing you know the pain is radiating through your back and shoulders and you feel absolutely sick and dizzy.

The main ailment associated with the gallbladder are gallstones. Gallstones are cholesterol deposits that form in the gallbladder as a direct result of a high intake of cholesterol in the diet. The body can only absorb and digest a small amount of cholesterol and the remaining amounts are stored in the gallbladder. As the body continues to be overloaded with cholesterol, however, stones begin to develop in the gallbladder and can eventually cause serious problems.

Not everyone that has a problem with their gallbladder will even notice anything at all. The fact is that the majority of people that have gallstones will experience no gallbladder symptoms at all. The good thing about these cases is that if there are no symptoms then the gallstones are causing no problems and they can just be left there without having to worry about any negative effects on the health.

Heartburn should only occur now and then when you have had a heavy meal. But gallbladder symptoms will be present almost after every meal and even at night as well. So if these symptoms are persistent then you most likely have a gallbladder problem.

You can typically tell that you acquire a gallbladder once you experience these signs each time after you eat. Heartburn must only occur now and then, however a gallbladder problem will cause painful signs each time after you eat.

We have a gallbladder for a reason. Bile that is created by the liver is stored in the gallbladder ready to help with the digestion of the next meal. With no gallbladder to store this bile acid it passes through to the intestine which causes irritation and therefore diarrhea. The damage to the intestinal lining can lead to cancer.

Gall bladder troubles can be very unsafe at later stages, if not treated well. The symptoms of gallbladder are not instantaneous, they are repetitive in nature. People suffering from gall bladder problems often complain about indigestion, gas, unable to get used to absorb fatty foods.

Since the symptoms of gallbladder problems are usually infrequent and only mild to moderate, the doctor will usually not take any further action. However, once you know that there is a potential for a gallbladder attack, you can take preventive measures. This includes not eating or avoiding fatty or greasy foods as much as possible.

Of course those symptoms of gallbladder disease are not the only ones that may occur. Tenderness and pain on the right side, biliary colic or very severe pains in the abdomen, jaundice and fever are also symptoms of this disease. If you know that you have gallstones and you are suffering an attack that also causes a fever, then that is a good time to get medical help right away.

If gallbladder disease symptoms persevere, are severe in nature or are chronic, then the only solution is to remove the entire organ. Since the gallbladder is non-vital and the bile can flow directly without it, there is no problem with the entire removal. If removal is not necessary because the symptoms are not severe and the attacks infrequent, then there are still preventive measures that can be taken.
